12 tablets which is the serving size contain the following:

240 calories
108 fat calories
18% of your required fat
10% of your required carbs
100% Vitamins/Minerals A, C, B1, B2, D, E, B6, Iron, Niacin, B12, , B5, Zinc, Manganese

They taste okay, I'm not sure how I would describe the taste though kind of like powdered hardened unsweetened chocolate milk.

Like you mentioned in your post, I think you would want to plan on supplementing. Not enough calories to keep you on the go.

There is also a low-carb protein tablet similar to the survival tabs. It might be a good idea to use both so you will get protein, fat, and carbs.

I've tried both, and prefer Mainstay rations to the tablets. The tabs tasted like malted milk balls gone flat, if that makes any sense. The Mainstay rations were easier for me to carry, filled me up better, and tasted better. Food for thought, YMMV.
