I took a recipe for split pea soup from here and made it in my crock pot. Last night and this morning it did not smell too good. I was seriously wondering if I had wasted all the ingredients.
Today when I went home for lunch it smelled like heaven. I will be serving it for dinner, I like slow cooking soups and stews, all the meats melt in your mouth and the legumes are nice and creamy.
I will be sure to use this site more often. Thanks squirrels!

This post is kinda old but what the heck.

Now that all the christmas dishes have been done and my turkey carcas has been simmering for a few hours in hopes of becoming turkey and wild rice soup the thought of what to do with the ham bone jumped into my head. I did a search for "split pea soup" and this thread was the only one that was returned

Does anyone have a good recipe for spilt pea soup they would be willing to share, on the stove or crockpot does not matter to me.

TIA

and MERRY CHRISTMAS, and I hope santa was good to everyone.
