I have tried both dehydrated foods and freeze dried food. I vastly prefer freeze dried foods as they are more convieint and will out last any other food storage method. Now I have been under the assumption that it would be to expenceive to mountain house your food preps. Also the statement to store what you eat and eat what you store is very true. I was having some fun with google looking into freeze dried foods. I happened to stumble on this site
http://www.freezedryco.com/equipment/model_2000.html

They are selling freeze dryers for in home use.
No prices on the site have emailed them for pricing how long it takes one cycle to complete.
And so forth. This would be perfect if it is not too expenceive. If people are interested I can pass along what I learn.
